The Zug International Womens Club was started in February 1967 by two Englishwomen, who instigated a regular coffee morning with a view to meeting other English-speaking women living in the Zug area. The ZIWC has since grown to be a thriving organisation comprising over 500 members representing nearly 50 different nationalities.
Regular activities are organised by independent groups coordinated by the Activities Chairwoman, including Stammtisch (weekly morning and evening gatherings), gardening, book discussion and conversation groups, yoga, sport and fitness. The ?Mums & Kids? group arranges regular coffee mornings as well as events and outings to the surroundings nearby.
Our Programme Committee organises regular events such as monthly luncheons and excursions both cultural and culinary, as well as physically challenging. Watch also for the "Let's Go...!" section, spur-of-the-moment events proposed by the committee and other club members.
The Women?s Business Forum and Small Business Forum offer periodic workshops and presentations on financial, career and personal development topics.
The Party Committee organises popular themed seasonal parties; and the Hospitality Committee strives to provide support for new and old members, coordinates monthly contact coffees, hosts the annual book sale together with the Library Committee, and the seasonal evening in November together with the Special Projects Committee.
Our Special Projects Committee coordinates all our efforts for charity; in 2005/2006 the ZIWC supported the ?Grace Kennett Foundation? based in India; in 2006/2007 our fundraising was on behalf of the Sinobome Foundation, based in South Africa. In 2007/2008 we are supporting the Ear Surgery Camps Foundation in Nepal.
The Library Committee works to support the English Section of the Zug Public Library. As a club we are collective members of the Open Door Movement and the Frauenzentrale Zug.
