Re-Pointing

As we are all aware the condition of external walls has a large impact on humidity problems inside our traditional stone homes. When jointed correctly, using products that are sympathetic to the nature of traditional stone walls our homes are not only more beautiful, and the walls themselves more stable, our homes are allowed to breathe naturally.

Traditionally stone walls were constructed by placing large rocks in the ground to act as footings for the walls that were then constructed to form our homes. Without any damp proofing in place the natural humidity of the soil rises into the wall and exits via the joints in the stonework.

In extreme cases where internal humidity is persistent a damp proof course can be injected into the wall creating a humidity barrier at its base. In these extreme cases it is also necessary to investigate local drainage problems at the same time.

Facades

Where our homes have been rendered in lime mortar it is important that any repairs to the render are carried out sympathetically using lime based products. Park Solutions can help with not only repairs to fissures and loose render but also in 're-painting' your home using lime based products, both sympathetic to the breathing cycle of your wall and pleasing to the eye. Alternatively this rendering can be stripped and the stone cleaned ready for rejointing.
