Dr. Eva BONDA, PhD is a Certified Clinical Psychologist and Cognitive Neuroscientist. She graduated with a summa cum laude degree in Classics at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Greece),
and studied Psychology at the University of ParisV/Sorbonne. She obtained a Professional degree (DESS) in Clinical Psychology and Psychopathology (Univ. of Paris V) and Master's degrees
(DEA) in Developmental Psychology (Univ. of Paris V) and Cogntive Science (EHESS and University of Pierre et Marie Curie - Paris VI).
She conducted her Doctoral thesis, with High Honours, in Functional Neuroimaging of the Human Brain at the Montreal Neurological Institute, McGill University, Canada and her postdoctoral research, which was funded by the Human Frontiers Science Programme, at the Center for Neuroscience and California Primate Center, University of California at Davis, and Department of Anatomy and Neurobiology, School of Medicine, Washington University of Saint Louis, Missouri, USA. She has been EU Research Fellow at the Department of Psychology, University College London and Medical Research Council Scientist, at the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Unit, Maudsley Hospital, King's College London, UK.
Dr. Bonda worked on the neural substrates of mental transformations of the body in space and showed for the first time, through Positron Emission Tomography techniques, the existence, in the human brain, of a specific dorso-medial parietal cortical network that codes the body image, http://www.pnas.org/content/92/24/11180.short She investigated on the neural systems sustaining memories, and showed the involvement of specific human areas for the formation of tactual limbic memories and the perception of expressive body signs. She also worked with neuroanatomical techniques in the amygdala, a key area in the brain involved in emotions and the entire range of psychological disorders, and proposed a model of functional interactions with the 'rational' brain.
Eva's current clinical work focuses on:
a) Psychopathology and Clinical Psychology of common Psychological and Neuropsychiatric disorders (Depression, Anxiety Disorders, Bipolar disorders, Personality Disorders); Cognitive-Analytical Therapies; Psychoanalysis (Freudian and primarily Lacanian techniques); Psychosomatic Relaxation and Movement Therapy Techniques
b) Neurocognitive Examination of Learning Disabilities in Children (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Autistic Spectrum Disorder, Dyslexia); Neurocognitive Examination of Neuropsychological Disorders in Adults (Mild Cognitive Impairement, Alzheimer Disease); NeuroCognitive Enhancement of Memory, Attention, Visual and Auditory Perception through novel approaches of neural plasticity training.
Her research has been published in major international journals: The Procceedings of National Academy of Sciences of the USA, The Journal of Neuroscience, The Journal of
NeuroPhysiology, and The European Journal of Neuroscience. One of her publications http://www.jneurosci.org/cgi/content/abstract/16/11/3737 is highly-cited (ISI Index) and marked the beginning of a whole new field, called today 'Social Cognitive Neuroscience'.
She received additional training in Mouse Genetics at the Pasteur Institute, Paris and Protein Biochemistry at the University of London, where she currently continues her research. Eva is
member of the Society for Neuroscience, USA, Human Genome Organization (HUGO) and Founder member of the International Society of Neuro-Psychoanalysis, London, UK.
