The CBL was established in January 2007 and has now been running successfully for two seasons. The league is run as a community club league aimed at providing an opportunity for basketball players aged 10 - 20 to play competitively in Singapore. The league also provides the chance for players to play with a non-school team and with people they would not normally get the opportunity to play with. Players are of all abilities and teams are separated according to age and ability thus players gain the maximum out of their basketball opportunities
