The Benjamin Franklin International School is a not for profit independent day school offering an authentic American education in a multi-cultural, multi-lingual setting.
The school offers a dual program in which students can study the Spanish Selectividad and Bachilerato as well as American High School Diploma and AP Exams, preparing students for universities in the US, Spain and worldwide. The diverse student body is comprised of 1/3 American, 1/3 Spanish and 1/3 International. BFIS is fully accredited by the US Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools and is authorized by the Spanish Ministry of Education. The school is a member of ECIS, MAIS and NAIS.
The American style curriculum includes a wide range of AP Courses and specialized classes in Spanish, Catalan and French. The extra curricular activities include sports, drama, music, chorus, digital film making, Student Council, National Honors Society, Model United Nations, Math Team and Yearbook. A complete team of Guidance and College counselors are available for all grades.
EAL (English as an additional language) and SFL (Spanish as a Foreign Language) is offered in grades 1 to 9
The teaching staff are all experienced and certified in their grade level or subject area, and almost all have advanced degrees. There are specialists in music, art, PE, IT, Learning Support and Library. The school day runs from 8.50am to 4.00pm and the academic year 09-10 will begin on September 1st and end on June 18th.
