Chiropractic is a health profession specializing in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of mechanical disorders of the musculoskeletal system and the affects of these disorders on the function of the nervous system and general health. Chiropractic practitioners essentially rely upon non-invasive treatment methods and will refer patients to medical practitioners should medication or surgery be indicated. This approach is further reinforced by chiropractors in their promotion of healthy lifestyles such as the avoidance of smoking and excess stress, proper diet and exercise. echanical disorders of the musculoskeletal system and the affects of these disorders on the function of the nervous s

Spinal Adjustments:
The adjustment is a safe, natural, noninvasive procedure used by the chiropractor to restore and improve health. Learning the art of adjusting is a skill that requires years of study and practice. Chiropractic doctors are the only health care professionals trained to deliver the chiropractic adjustment. Spinal adjustments by any other individual or health care professional have been shown to be dangerous and less effective. In basic terms, the spinal adjustment or spinal manipulation refers to the process in which the doctor of chiropractic skillfully applies controlled force into one or more "subluxated" vertebrae of the spine. The adjustment is also frequently used in the pelvic region to normalize the sacroiliac joints. The adjustment is usually delivered using the hands or through the use of a specialized mechanical tool. Correcting subluxations reduces pain and inflammation, reduces muscle spasm and tension, normalizes spinal biomechanics and more importantly, can improve overall health and wellness of the individual.
Extremity joint adjustments:
Chiropractic adjustive techniques can restore and enhance extremity joint functioning which can increase the life of the joint and keep wear and tear to a minimum. This is of special interest to athletes who generally demand optimal joint performance from highly stressed joints. Adjusting provides an immediate increase in joint range of motion and also supplies the joint with nutrients, as motion is the only way to bring nutrients into the joint cartilage and remove waste products. Adjustments reduce pain and inflammation, reduce muscle spasm and tension, normalize joint biomechanics, thereby facilitating return to normal function.
Electrotherapy:
Electrotherapy is a physical body treatment that utilizes special electrodes that stiumlate muscles to strengthen and maintain them. Electrotherapy is useful in assisting in recovery and rehabilitation of stressed or injured muscles and joints. A non-invasive therapy, electrotherapy has been medically approved for use on patients that have suffered stroke or injury to help maintain muscle tone while recouperating; and further decreases inflammation due to illness or injury. Additionally, electrotherapy is a superb treatment for fibromyalgia, diabetic neuropathy, carpal tunnel syndrome, Sciatica, scoliosis, and many other musculoskeletal problems and disorders. At Back II Life we primarily use electrotherapy for the natural control of pain and inflammation. A unique approach is the use of iontophoresis to facilitate the absorption of glucosamine into the joints and injured sites. a
Ultrasound therapy:
Ultrasound is simply high frequency sounds waves above the range that we can hear. It is applied to the body from the 'head' of an ultrasound machine. A gel is used to help the waves travel into the body rather than be reflected off the skin. It produces benefits like: 1) increased blood supply which promotes healing, 2) produces a pain killing effect which can reduce muscle spasm, and promote normal funtion, 3) softens fibrous tissues and scar tissue which are formed during healing. At Back II Life it is used as an integral part of most treatment plans at various stages of healing. It is also coupled with glucosamine gel to create sonophoresis or deeper penetration of the glucosamine into joints and injured tissues. d b
Orthotics:
Orthotics, which are often used in the treatment of biomechanical disorders, are custom moulded inserts for shoes that correct foot function and improve efficiency during gait. They are not only useful for the treatment of foot problems, but also can be used for the treatment of ankle, knee, hip, and lower back complaints when these disorders have their origin with abnormal foot function and gait. At Back II Life, we provide patients with customed made orthrotics for various complaints related directly or indirectly to faulty foot biomechanics.general
iBack Exercise:
Simple effective back exercises are incorporated into every treatment plan and tailored for the individual and their specific condition. Research has shown that the combined effect of exercise and chiropractic care is more effective than either approach.
Nutrition:
We provide patients with proper nutritional support with our joint related products (topical, oral and rehab). Our products include those for joint repair and pain relief, suitable for most individuals. Dietary supplements can facilitate healing and repair and especially important for athletes and active individuals.
What is Homeopathy?
Homeopathy is a natural healing system that offers a comprehensive treatment to a wide variety of illness without side effects. This approach of holistic healing influences the body to heal itself by stimulating the body's immune system through medically active substances in a very diluted form. Homeopathy treats the whole person and not just one part of the body or the disease only. The word Homeopathy comes from the Greek terminology, homoios meaning ikeā and pathos meaning suffering. This term is derived from the basis of homeopathic prescribing called Law of Similars. Samuel Hahnemann, a German physician and chemist, discovered this principle of like cures like 200 years ago. However, this theory dates back to Hippocrates (460-370 BC), where he believed that the symptoms of a sick individual provided the solution to find a remedy, which stimulates the body's power to heal itself.
Homeopathic Remedies:
Homeopathic medicines stimulate your body's homeostatic mechanism so your body heals itself by dealing with the sources of your symptoms. The basic principle of homeopathic medicine is that a small dose of a substance will help cure that which it causes in overdose. Although this principle may be a bit confusing at first, it actually makes a lot of sense. Modern day physiology and biology are confirming a basic premise of homeopathy which recognizes that symptoms are efforts of the organism to adapt to stress or infection. Symptoms are therefore understood as the way the "bodymind" is trying, although not always successfully, to re-establish homeostasis or balance. Since symptoms are the best efforts of the organism to attempt to heal itself, it is best to avoid treating or suppressing specific symptoms, and it is preferred to aid and stimulate the body's defense and immune processes. The homeopathic medicines are able to stimulate the defensesystem, since they, like conventional immunizations and allergy treatments, give small doses of what causes a condition in order to stimulate the immune system. Homeopathic medicines, however, are distinctively different from immunizations and allergy treatment, since the homeopathic medicines are more individually prescribed to people, given in much smaller and less toxic doses, and used for both prevention and treatment of a person.
Phytotherapy:
Derived from the Greek words phton, meaning plant and therapela, meaning therapy, phytotherapy - or herbal medicine - should not be confused with homoeopathy. For while both are medicinal treatments based upon the use of fresh herbs, their points of departure are quite different. Whereas phytotherapy employs the use of whole herbs, homoeopathic medicines are based on the carefully diluted extracts of herbal plants i.e. whole plants versus plant extracts. However, although fundamentally different, phytotherapy does owe much of its inspiration to homoeopathy, as a great number of the plants used are common to both. The guiding philosophy behind phytotherapy is that it is not just one or two isolated plant substances that provide a cure, rather it is the totality of all a plant's ingredients working together that generate the desired therapeutic effect. As with homoeopathy, phytotherapy also evolved through centuries of practical research and experience (trial and error) by practising herbalists before becoming a more exact science. Today, phytotherapy is accepted as a highly effective fundamental treatment. In fact in many Western European countries it is used in combination with conventional medicines and is longer be viewed as an alternative form of treatment. "Follow nature's example and try to find the balance between tension and relaxation, between activity and rest, between intellectual and physical activity. Illness and suffering are caused by imbalance and disharmony, in whatever areas of your life they may occur" by A. Vogel
Bach Flower Essence:
Flower essences contain the vibration / imprint (energy) of the plant. It helps bring us into a state of resonance with our true essence, our perfect-self within. Since this is energy at work; these essences are more powerful than herbs or other extracts. The body has a complex electrical system that is present in and connects with every cell. When this system is compromised by various stresses, traumas and unhealthy situations in life, these circuits break down and cause the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual imbalances and malfunctions. Flower essences help to reconnect these circuits on a cellular level and allow the body to return to a state of balance and health. Rescue Remedy is the most commonly known and used. It helps to deal with any emergency or stressful event. Taking a driving test, exam nerves, speaking in public, after an accident or an argument - there are countless uses for Rescue Remedy, it helps people, and animals. Bach flower remedies address primarily the emotional level of consciousness. Dr. Bach believed that the primary cause of each illness comes from unbalanced and/or extreme emotions. He discovered that specific flower essence balances specific personality type, contributing to well being, spiritual growth and personal satisfaction.mechanics and more importantl
